Can you try configuring the editor to use absolute URL?
If you're using TinyMCE, the editor can be configured to use absolute URL at Joomla! administrator > System > Plugins > Editor - TinyMCE > URLs

Unfortunately that doesn't work. Adding the absolute url and saving it, returns it to a relative url

Hi Franc, this is neither a bug nor a feature. The way images appear in the content of an email depends on the editor you use in Joomla!. For example, TinyMCE, which is the default editor in all Joomla! installations, uses relative URLs instead of absolute URLs for images.
If images do not appear in the email, you can resolve this by adding your domain to the image links. For instance, instead of using "/images/myimage.jpg," you can manually update the link to "
www.mysite.com/images/myimage.jpg
" by including your website's domain name. (Replace
www.mysite.com
with your own domain name)

In the outgoing emails the added image isn't shown. Instead of the correct url it is images/... so the image isn't shown in the emails. Is that a bug or a feature?
Does the paid version has that problem also?
